Raven and Raven

Friday, February 19th, 2010

Robert “Raven” Kraft stopped in the other day to check out his spread in Ian’s mag. In exchange for a copy he left us a book by local author Lee Williams entitled The Lifeguard Murders. The book features Raven on the cover and also includes a CD of music by him. Check it out at thelifeguardmurders.com and Raven’s site, ravenrun.net

True words from Andre. We’ll miss ya Carlos.

I went and saw his vessel today. The more I see life-less bodies the more I believe that there is more to reality than what we see. I’ve kicked it with him at the park, we’ve ran into each other on the train, I’ve pulled him from the park to go street skating and he was hyped, so was I because I saw he was happy. We were not the best of friends but he was genuinely hyped to see me when we did see each other and it was an awesome feeling and we’d go play s.k.a.t.e.,  he had an ill style on the board and it would have been cool to see it develop, but we gotta keep it moving. I’ve always believed in bonding with those younger than I am, getting to know what they were thinking, their thoughts on life, what they’re into etc. They have a lot of vital information to offer us.
He is a good spirit and  though his physical will be missed he is still readily available, just talk into the wind.
peace love and eternal light-Andre

This Year’s Full Of Surprises

Tuesday, December 22nd, 2009

This is a photo of Alina and Ras, two very colorful and loyal customers over here at MIA Skateshop. Today I received the sad news that Ras has recently passed away from a heart condition. Anyone that met this dude can attest to the energy and character he had. Kind of abrasive at first he definitely had a “Fuck The World” outlook on life. It wasn’t off-putting though and I would frequently find myself entertained by his conversation and demeanor. He’d come charging in like a bat out of hell usually proud to show off his latest old school set up.  He’d boast how he tracked down some deadstock wheels, trucks, and deck. His set-ups were as unique as his personality. Alina asked my help in setting up a skate memorial for Ras so if you knew this dude hit me up at the shop. My condolences go out to Alina and Ras’ family and friends. It’s cliche’ to say but fuck it hopefully he’s shredding out there somewhere! Later man.
